Paying tribute to its rich heritage, JeanRichard has created the Aquascope watch inspired by the brand’s historical model born back in the 1960s. The new JeanRichard watch is animated by the brand’s JR1000 in-house movement and boasts 300-meter water-resistance.
The history of the JeanRichard Company, founded by a genius watchmaker, Daniel JeanRichard, in 1681, has been highlighted by a few decisive periods, including the 1960s, when JeanRichard introduced a series of divers’ watches. The Aquascope watch harks back to that creative period in the history of the company.
The JeanRichard Aquascope watch reflects the design and proportions of the historical 1960s divers’ watch, enhanced with a fresh and contemporary touch. The tonneau-shaped case of the timepiece creates a distinctive contrast with a round dial. The black polished or deep blue dial is protected by a convex, colorless anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
The brand has maintained the original monobloc case of the model meant to protect the two crowns with its edges. You will notice distinctive facets on both sides of the case rounding off its ergonomics.
The case of the JeanRichard watch is crafted in polished and satin-finished stainless steel. The case incorporates an external bidirectional rotating black bezel, also inspired by the 1960s watch. The bezel can be used for indicating the dive time left. For most accurate setting, the bezel is notched - it has 120 teeth, implying a half-minute setting.
The bezel is fitted with a special safety system to avoid ill-timed movements from any sudden impact. The corrector is found at the level of the 9 o’clock pusher. When you screw in the 9 o’clock crown, the bezel cannot move. The screw-down 3 o’clock crown is to be used for adjusting the hour and minute hands and the date.
The Aquascope is secured to the wrist on a black or white structured calfskin chevron-patterned strap suggested by the original watch. The strap is fitted with a polished stainless steel folding buckle.
The JR1000 in-house self-winding mechanical movement, animating the timepiece, has been entirely developed and produced in the brand’s workshops. With a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement gives an advantage of a 48-hour power-reserve.
